Executive Committee

Deb Haggerty is the Chair of FBCCRF and is an 8 year breast cancer survivor. She represents FBCCRF on the Florida Dialogue of Cancer (FDOC). As a graduate of Project LEAD, she has served as a consumer reviewer for the DoD Breast Cancer Research Project for several years. Deb is the creator of www.PositiveHope.com, a website designed to encourage women with breast cancer who want to control their own healthcare and family and friends who want to support them on their journeys.

Lee Edelstein is the Vice Chair of FBCCRF as well as Finance Committee and Faith In Education Chair. He is currently the Chairman of TMS Health. Lee lost his first wife to breast cancer a few years ago.  His new wife is a breast cancer survivor.

James R. Konschnik, Chief Executive Officer of FBCCRF. He joined The Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation on December 3, 2007. He has personally been touched in his family by breast cancer. He brings a wealth of knowledge and his extensive 13 years of background in business, advocacy, fundraising and community relations to the organization. Most recently, Mr. Konschnik has held various not-for-profit management positions including Executive Director for The Center for Positive Connections and Director of Development for Easter Seals South Florida. He also has prior management experience in the corporate arena.

Susan Messier is the Treasurer of FBCCRF. She is a CPA is a partner in the accounting firm Bloom, Gettis, Habib which is based in Miami, Florida. Susan is a CPA with over 10 years in public accounting. Her area of specialty is tax.

Jane Torres is the founder of the Florida Breast Cancer Coalition (FBCC), Immediate Past President of the Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Foundation (FBCCRF) and a breast cancer advocate since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994. Jane is a graduate of Project LEAD®, the National Breast Cancer Coalition's innovative training program for breast cancer activists. In addition to her work with FBCCRF, Jane is President of Catalyst international, Inc., a consulting company specializing in human resource developments and cross-cultural communication.  She is also a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Miami, Florida.

Karen Crew, Esq. is a Partner with the law firm of Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell, P.A., where her practice focuses on corporate and finance transactions. Karen belongs to several professional organizations and serves on the board of DanceNow! Ensemble, a Miami-based modern dance company.

Deborah Jay Curtin is a breast cancer survivor and past chair of the American Cancer Society of Miami Dade/Monroe Counties. Deborah served in senior management positions within Miami-Dade County government for more than 20 years. She is a member of the Board of the League of Women Voters and has received numerous awards for her charity work. Deborah is an active advocate who travels to Tallahassee many times each year to meet with state representatives on health related issues. Deborah also serves as a corporate director for Town and Country Woodshop, handling all administrative matters for the company.

Robert Derhagopian M.D., is the Chair of the Scientific Committee, and is a surgical oncologist in private practice specializing in diseases of the breast. 

Caroline Dougherty is VP of Special Events at Saks Fifth Avenue. Living in Palm Beach, Florida and New York City, Caroline has extensive experience in the field of public relations and has worked for the following companies: Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef and Arpels, Club Monaco.

Kathy Durham is the Chair of the Development Committee, and is a breast cancer survivor, is a senior vice president of Sun Trust Bank, SW Branch. She began her career in Operations, Mortgage in 1973 and has gone on to work in the areas of business development, marketing, customer relations, and soliciting prospects to increase market share. She was appointed to the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners and serves as Secretary/Treasurer. Kathy is past president of the David/Cooper City Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Kitty Jean Ellerson of Orlando, Florida is a CARES Assessor with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. A sought after volunteer, Kitty serves on the executive committee of the Orlando Branch of the NAACP, member of the Orlando Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., member of Orlando Chapter of The Links, Inc, and life member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Kitty also serves on the board of Tajiri School of the Performing Arts located in Sanford, Florida.

Frances Grillo is the Director of Government and Community Relations for Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union, the largest credit union in South Florida. A leader in advocacy both at the state and federal levels, Frances oversees all of the credit union’s community fundraising events, including efforts on behalf of the March of Dimes, United Way, American Red Cross, Women in Distress etc. Her father survived breast cancer for many years.

Judy Henry, of the Woodmont Country Club Community in Tamarac, is the Director of the Country Club and Condo Campaigns for The Jewish Federation of Broward County. Judy has lived in Broward County over 30 years, and serves on Volunteer Broward and Cooperative Feeding Programs Boards. She truly believes we are charged with the responsibility to give back to our Communities.

Laura Rayban Miller is the CEO of Israel Bonds for Miami Dade and Broward County. She serves as a South Broward Hospital Commissioner. Her mother is a breast cancer survivor.

William Multack was President and CEO of FEDCO, Inc., a chain of discount drug stores throughout Florida. He lost his wife to breast cancer in 2004. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mt. Sinai Medical Center (Miami Beach), and on the board of Mt. Sinai’s Cancer Lifeline.

Kristie Naines is a breast cancer survivor who lives in Jacksonville. She works in the development office of the Mayo Clinic and has reviewed for the DOD Breast Cancer Research Program several times.

Laura Rummans is a partner with the law firm of Ruden McClosky. She is a breast cancer survivor. Her legal expertise is in the area of corporate law and Trusts and Estates. A former business owner, Laura is involved with numerous fundraisers and has served on various charitable boards.

Rhonda Serianni is an expert Marketing and Public Relations professional as well having a considerable amount of development experience. She is a breast cancer survivor. She has worked for years as the Director of Communications for the Jewish Federation of Broward County.

Rebecca Stoll was appointed to the Board of the North Broward Hospital District in 2005 by Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Commissioner Stoll is a native Floridian who earned her degree in fine arts at the University of Florida. In Addition to her role at the North Broward Hospital District, Commissioner Stoll is President of Turnkey Title, a real estate title company that offers both residential and commercial title and escrow closing service throughout the state of Florida. Commissioner Stoll lives in Fort Lauderdale with her husband, attorney Steven Stoll, and their son.
