Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation Names New CEO

Hallandale, FL (December 3, 2007) – The Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of James R. Konschnik as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer effective December 3, 2007. He brings a wealth of knowledge and his extensive 13 years of background in business, advocacy, fundraising and community relations to the organization. Most recently, Mr. Konschnik has held various not-for-profit management positions including Executive Director for The Center for Positive Connections and Director of Development for Easter Seals South Florida. He also has prior management experience in the corporate arena. “Over the past 13 years, FBCCRF has grown from a small group of advocates into a statewide organization leading Florida's efforts to end breast cancer through research, education and advocacy.  I am delighted to have Jim assume the position of CEO as I am confident he will help FBCCRF achieve even more of our goals, explains Jane Torres, Founder and Past President. Hiring Jim Konschnik to be our CEO was a great find for FBCCRF. Jim has extensive experience in the non-profit arena, has been touched by breast cancer in his own family, and is enthusiastic about our mission to end breast cancer through advocacy, education, and research. His high energy level and dedication to detail will enable us to function more effectively and raise awareness of breast cancer throughout the state. I am personally very pleased to be working with Jim and his staff”, states Deb Haggerty Board President. "FBCCRF is delighted to have Jim Konschnik onboard as our new CEO.  Jim's professionalism, experience and commitment to growth and excellence dovetail perfectly with the needs of our organization.  I look forward to working with Jim in 2008 and beyond to allow FBCCRF to have a greater impact in helping to end Breast Cancer", states Lee Edelstein, Board Vice president and President-Elect.

The Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation (FBCCRF) was formed in 1995 as a grassroots non profit organization dedicated to ending breast cancer through advocacy, education and research. FBCCRF works statewide to raise awareness and mobilize Floridians to promote public funding for breast cancer research, quality health care for all without fear of discrimination and an environment free of carcinogens.  Our main programs include educational seminars, a quarterly newsletter, advocacy alerts, the Faith In Education program as well as scientific research and education grant awards from proceeds of the “End Breast Cancer” Florida license plates. FBCCRF served over 45,000 individuals last year.  FBCCRF is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors of survivors, advocates and experts and is an affiliate of the National Breast Cancer Coalition.
